Mark Zuckerberg do you condone cyber-bullying?

Hello Mark. The Honesty Box application on your website is providing cyber-bullies an opportunity to prey on their victims anonymously. As CEO and Founder of Facebook it is your duty to remove it.

Mark Zuckerberg do you condone cyber-bullying? Kids who might never be mean in the real world can bully online on Facebook because of the feeling of anonymity that Honesty Box provides them. But even if they can't see the people they are hurting, cyberbullies do real damage. Victims can suffer from low self-esteem, fall behind in school work, or become anxious, depressed, and even suicidal.

I know you're aware of such problems; you replied to my email re: a cyberbullying incident that had taken place on Facebook.

However, thing is you didn't sound too concerned, "sounds like an issue that Facebook's User Operations team could help with" you replied.

Why get User Operations team fob me off with a lame excuse that the application was not built by Facebook. "Honesty Box is developed and operated by a third party and runs on its own technical resources. Facebook is not responsible for the support provided by this developer." SO WHAT!

Do you have kids yet, maybe not, you're still one yourself.

Mark, you should be really worried.

With regard to the Facebook "Honesty Box". I whole-heartedly agree that this should be removed from the site regardless of whether it is run by a third party. At 26 I've been through my fair share of insecure especially in my teens and am glad this did not exist when I was in the trenches! If your "friends" have something they honestly what to say about you to you, to should be said to your face. The whole thing is a receipe for disaster and it is sending kids/ teens the wrong message of how to interacte with your peers. Actually the more I write the more angry I am getting about this...I think I might send my own complaint to Facebook!!!

This is an utterly ridiculous non-issue. The honesty box is an OPT-IN application that users of Facebook have to CHOOSE to add to their page. You are not forced to use it, and if you have installed it, you can remove it at the simple click of a button. If people are worried about comments that could be left via it, simply DON'T PUT IT ON YOUR PAGE IN THE FIRST PLACE. If you have it on your page and have been left an abusive comment by it that has hurt you, REMOVE IT TO STOP IT HAPPENING AGAIN. If it happens repeatedly and you fail to remove it, you are making yourself the victim by leaving this avenue open and it is not the fault of Mark Zuckenberg if you choose to do this.

As I said, a ridiculous campaign. Spend your time and effort on something worthwhile.

Anything that encourages bullying should be stopped. If Facebook know this is going on on their site why don't they stop it.

They've got to concede if you get the support. Even without it their guilty.

I saw this is the Londonpaper yesterday. You're quite right it is a dangerous application and I'm surprised Facebook allow it. Strange!
