I am really worried about reducing my citalopram dosage

Just to say I saw my doctor a few days ago and I have cut back from 60mg to 50 mg with no problems.

However he says that in 2 weeks time I should try and then cut back to 40mg. Anyone done similar here?

It is right that you should cut down gradually. The big step is when you get to 20 mg and have to decide when to drop further. It might be good for you to look for some info on Cipralex which has some advantages over Citalopram. Good luck

I haven't done similar, or even know what that stuff does.

    Sorry love, can't help you.

    Take it slowly.

Don't forget the reasons you started to take it.

Try to get to 20mg and consider that as a maintenence dose for a while.

NEVER cease an antidepressant from a high dose without professional help.

Find a support group to help psychologically or ask a friend/family member to be there for you when you need to talk.

When I assist people who want to decrease/cease antidepressants, it can take anything from 6-18 months depending on the dose.

    Use this site.

    All the best.
